Anyone been buying new ski gear?

The ski season is here again so has anyone been buying any new kit? Going skiing in January and just got some 08/09 Scott Punisher skis and some Seth Morrison Oakley Crowbar goggles.

Was meant to be in Tignes today, but having to work.

Bought some Atomic Hawk boots and some Rossignol Ski's. First skis and boots.

Will be spending Christmas at parents so skiing every day.

I'm about to, kind of.

It's my first winter since moving to Norway and the white stuff has just landed. This means the mountain bike is laid up until summer, and for the first time in my life I shall take up a winter sport (I can get the underground to the nearest slope !)

I'm fairly sure I'll go for snowboarding over strapping two planks to my feet, as I'm sure it'll be easier to pick up.

Coming back to England for Christmas, are there any decent shops in the Manchester / Liverpool area, the only one I know of is Snow and Rock at the bottom of Manchester. Other than that I'll be ordering from the states, as a pair of goggles here in the shops are 100 GBP for starters.

No friend lives in Tignes, Parents over in pyrenees.

I was doing that. Till I realised how much it costs over a season!

Much cheaper I have worked out to buy.

Aldi do the occasional ski gear sale, and before everyone sgs it off as cheap tat, some of the stuff is great and good enough for several seasons.

Plus if it's cheap, it's disposable!

Yup! Only buying one new set of planks this season

and got them for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay below retail.

Yup! Bought some new SOS ski pants in Stockholm a couple of weekends back and I bought some under-layers from Peak Performance in their August sale..40% off or something.

Off to Verbier in 10 days for Premiere Neige...cant wait..!!

Might see if I can get some new planks on the cheap at the start of next year. Debating a trip to Val D in early Feb.

Got myself a new Vans jacket on Saturday for ~£20 so fairly pleased with that (added to the free Animal jacket and fleece I got 2 weeks ago ).

Boots will remain my trusty X-Wave 10s, which are now 6 years old I think.

plus you have the problem of storing all the kit for 51 weeks a year

You'd be suprised, even here (switzerland) you can pick up a decent make board and bindings for 150chf (about £75) as all the major shops are having huge sales.

My new burton board and burton bindings cost about £150 all in, who cares that its last seasons design.
