Alarm for garage with no power ??
Discussion
How do I make a lock up garage secure/deter intruders that has no power ??
It has the normal crap little lock in the center of the door and I am also going to add another bolt/lock at the bottom or side.
But is there anyway I can fit some sort of intruder alarm if the garage has no mains electricity ?? Are there any solar powered alarms that can charge up during the day ??

Your probably better off with a physical deterant, i have 3 HUGE padlocks/hasp & staples on mine, all fitted with security bolts and a shed load of weld. If you do fancy the alarm route, Response do a decent range of wireless alarm, available from Screwfix & B&Q etc for £100 which has 2 PIR sensors and 2 magnetic catches.
Can't beat the physcial option in my opinion!

is it an up and over door?
if so can you fit a collapsible security bollard to stop the door being opened?
Eh ??!! I like the sound of it but don't know what you mean ??if so can you fit a collapsible security bollard to stop the door being opened?
Do you mean a pole that pushes over and the base is drilled/mounted into a concrete floor/drive ??

Deoends on whether you want something profesional or just take a chance with a Micky Mouse kit. To do the job properly with remote signalling, you are looking at about £600.

Battery powered shed alarm??
Yale do small ones that are motion detectors and set off a 100 odd Db
siren if they are activated.
The one I had had a 4 digit code to deactivate it when you went in.

Just had a look for these... http://www.yalelock.co.uk/en/yale/couk/ProductsDB/...Yale do small ones that are motion detectors and set off a 100 odd Db

Less than £20 online too. I keep everything of value locked up in the garage but one of these would be a nice deterrent if anyone were to break in.
Even cheaper from Yale direct http://shop.yale.co.uk/acatalog/Standalone_alarms....

How about something like this?

Plenty of other heavy metal on that site too to look at.

Low tech would be an X10 window or door sensor or both and a receiver, set the code on the siren.
After dinner plug in the siren, unplug after breakfast.
No need for timers or switches, unless you want to of course.
ETA Batteries last about a year.
