In the local Homebase this afternoon.

4 Range Rovers in the carpark.

All newish (56+) and each and every one of them scratched to buggery. Never ceases to amaze me just how spiteful some people are.

If it was eco warriors then I hope the RR users use really environmentally unfriendly paint to mend them.

Keying a car belonging to someone you hate is one thing, but someone you have never met?

It really is a sad reflection on today's society.

Put tints and alloys on so they think it belongs to a drug dealer wink (apart from the psycho environmentalists who have balls of steel lol)

I think I'm fairly safe in saying its not just RRs that are suffering.

It seems to have been on the increase around my city for the last few years frown

But having been a victim myself i might just notice it on other cars more than most.

Perhaps they've just been off-road on green lanes with 'interference fit'? smile

The combination of smoked glass, a few PFA stickers in the rear window, having the Rangie liberally covered in sh!t most of the time, and a few bundles of bin-liners strewn about in the back seems to work wonders. My conjecture is that the lentilists mistakenly assume that PFA stands for "Pig Farmer's Association", derive some implication from the window tint and conclude that vandalising the property of a drug-dealer who owns a pig farm to be a bad idea. The worst I've had done was from my dizzy bint of a neighbour who reversed straight out of her drive into the side of the Rangie - a couple of minor scratches to the truck vs. nervous breakdown by her - even after I explained that I'm actually neither in the recreational pharmecutical nor wholesale pork farming businesses.

Is it just me, or is every other thread on PH about 4x4s today?

Are you sure it was due to vandalism and not because of heavy duty off-roading. Branches and hedges can really scratch paintwork.

interesting.. Just as I was taking a look at this on another tab in the browser and thinking how tasty that would be - minus the tints of course.

Well, I suspect the % of RR in British cities that have never seen mud (save for that dropped by a tractor as it heads into the nearest field) is rather high.

I live out in the sticks, plenty of RR around here, yet most of them look cleaner than my car....

I dont think anyone would touch a slightly dirty Defender, as it is clearly a tool for a job. I suspect the cars typically vandalised are gleaming school run wagons that show no sign of off road use.

With tyres like that, how did you get stuck there?

Hmm, were they really vandalism scratches or "I'm a bullying in an RR, oh st the gap's too small" scratches?

The car is sitting on it's belly in that puddle (it was heavily rutted - you can just see the start of the ruts in the bottom of the pic). If they don't touch the ground, they can't move the car! biggrin
