Xmas Decorations up early

I was tempted to start a thread about this - ffs it (was) still November.
Lights are on in every town and the neighbours have theirs on outside the house. I felt like knocking on the door and asking them what the date was...
Spoils it for me, Christmas dec's should be twelve days before and after, not two to three months of the year.
And don't get me started on rear fog lights...!

Generally those with kids like to put them up early. Also schools encourage it a bit. Nowt wrong with a bit of peer pressure.

So you put them up on Christmas day then? Bearing on mind that song does count that way It's the rules!
But really it should begin on Advent Sunday which is 30th November this year.
I did have religion forced on me as a child, You never forget!
I think the old tradition was tree and decorations on Christmas Eve and down on the 12th day after C.Day.

With all the PC crap re upsetting non Christians and cards having Seasons greetings on instead of Christmas I think I shall be doing mine a little early this year
Early being mid December, my usual is around the 21st.
Regarding the poster and the fog lights, I'll use the same date, thanks for the reminder. (and off in the Spring.. right)

It has been a crap year for many, I don't begrudge them putting lights and decorations up early to cheer the place up. People don't all enjoy being miserable you know - although looking at some threads you could be forgiven for thinking so.

There's a house around the corner from me where they have put chavtastic lights up on the front of the house a couple of years back. The lights do not come down; they just switch them off. Fortunately they do not show too much as the brick is quite dark. Last year, however, they plonked a three foot illuminated Father Christmas up and it is still there now! He has fallen off his fixings and now hangs from his flex about a foot above the front door. It looks like St. Nick has had enough of reindeers, elves and bits of mince pie in his beard and decided to end it all.
