Scary nightmares -how manly are you?
Discussion
I ask because I was recently given the following highly confidential information by Mrs Zep from her sister.
My sister inlaw's OH is an ex squaddie, 6ft, rarely shaven, outdoorsy, apparently well-endowed kind of fella.
He is also arachnaphobic.
-The other night he abruptly awoke, clawing at thin air, bellowing largely incoherently, apart from the words, "SPIDERS....UNGHHGHH....SPIDERS".
He then burst into tears and had to be cuddled back to sleep.
Besides being piss-take gold, I wondered if others have similar hilarious night-time awakenings from scary dreamland?

not had a nightmare in years. have been stabbed and shot in dreams but as soon as i realise i'm not hurt i just lay there until the villain or nazi [ww2 dream!] turns their back then i pop up again.
worst dreams i have are ones like last nights - got an exam the next day and haven't studied [despite leaving education 5yrs ago] - and ones that focus on messy realtionship breakups.
also i have never once had sex in a dream. there you go.

Many years ago I had a dream where a monster was climbing the stairs to my bedroom.
I woke up and stared at the bedroom door and suddenly it burst open with the monster crashing through!!!
Then I woke up for real.
I have ones like that sometimes as well, you're dreaming that someone or something is in your house and you wake up just before it comes into your room. I seem to remember over the years it has involved Brown Bears, Wolves, Giant Spiders and a few species of Dinosaur!I woke up and stared at the bedroom door and suddenly it burst open with the monster crashing through!!!
Then I woke up for real.
I've had a few random awakenings. I occasionaly get night terrors and sleep paralysis. The worst was when I woke up with some troll like thing looking at me at the side of my bed and I couldn't move at all, just watch them (it was about thirty seconds before I could move and it dissapeared). The really scary thing is that you are actually half awake and it is still happening. I have also punched bedside tables and walls several times. My OH is pretty brave to share a bed with me tbh, though so far I have only ever lifted her into a sitting position because I thought she asked me to and had a conversation about the plights of the Australian aborigonals.
Hmm, as a relative newb to this forum maybe I should not have just admitted all this

When I was younger I had a height chart which had the Weetabix men on, so this was the last thing I saw as I drifted to sleep.
I regularly had dreams that the Weetabix Men were tearing me to pieces for eating their babies at breakfast and sometimes had me waking up sweating like a pig.
Once I hit 5 foot 11 though and had a new chart the dreams stopped
Dave!

Dave!
I had a bizarre bad dream last night that I bought a BMW M1 on a whim. It was a complete shed and really slow, I was gutted.
Seems to be a bit of a recurring dream for me - I've also had nightmares involving a Jag XJS and a 1990s Mercedes 500SL.

Never a problem given that my dreams are lucid 99% of the time, which is very odd I can tell you
Basically I know it's a dream within a few seconds and then spend the next few minutes exporing it. When I was a kid I used to dream about the Alien from 'Aliens' all of the time, I'd get scared, then think "Ooh, I could really use a lightsabre right now" - it would of course appear, and I'd dispatch the Alien with an added flare of Kung Fu just for good measure.
The O/H finds it really weird

I get sleep paralysis quite often.
Used to get it about twice a mont when I was younger - its terrifying.
Even though you are awake and you know whats hapening it scares the bejesus out of you.

The rare but sudden vertical drop of about a foot wakes me up for a bit.
I used to get this alot as a kid. There was a wall that I would be walking along the top of and stepping off to one side meant a massive fall and hence me waking up. It's a very strange jolt feeling.Kuroblack350 said:

I'd say about 50% of my dreams are lucid, mainly involving flying. Does anybody else find they always wake up at the exact same time every day, completely unprompted?

All. The. Time. It's actually getting worrying as I must call out the name of whichever partner it is in my sleep. I don't live with Lady F. The day I do, this will be embarrassing and potentially bad for my safety...
