Ski bag dilemma

Booked a skiing holiday but have been told that there is not enough room on the flight for ski bags. Can anyone think of a way to send some equipment over that won't cost more than buying new stuff when I'm there!

What kind of a flight is it? A 2 seater?

That's what I thought! It's a package but they said the plane's ski bag room is full already. I suggested not taking another bag but they said no...

Any commercial airline will take them I am sure, you just might have to pay extra.

Booked it fairly last minute and they said full at any price. Suggested going to airport with a bag v early in case of a no show!

Yikes, I have never even booked ski carry in advance before. I am flying out next month so I think I will give them a call after hearing this.

there are companies who for about £40 a bag will collect and fly your luggage out for you

Failing that, take your boots but rent some posh skis and fk them up for a week whilst keeping your pristine?

It all depends. Could you change your flight to another carrier.
BA don't charge (within certain criteria) for sports equipment.
If you are going Sleazyjet or similar and want any add ons of any sort, you'll often end up paying more than you would have done on BA.
Can you cancel or get a credit for the existing flight and go again later in the season, when you may have more chance of getting your ski bag on?

nice, is getting a refund on the flights and transfers possible?

flew to geneva last season and with all the hanging about/transfers I worked out it would have been cheaper and quicker to drive

All depends on where you are located and how the trip goes.
Under normal circumstances, I can leave work at midday and be in Chamonix for 8, their time.
Driving would be nearer 15 hours with the ferry or the tunnel.
You must have had a bad set of conditions when you travelled.

true, NW London for me

nothing exceptionally bad but it still took 12 hours door to door, much the same when I do it in the summer but I detest coach transfers

It'll cost you less to rent some gucci skis than it will to have yours couriered out. Take your boots though...

I was almost in a similar quandary - take the beloved carvers for £35 carriage or rent something newer out there, but the ski hire will be about £50 for the week.
