I'm all revved up, NEC bike show ticket booked, train ticket booked, all dressed up, ready to leave to go to the railway station....
.... and the friggin' carbon monoxide alarm just went crazy in the kitchen!!!!
I have a young daughter and old mum in law living here, wife is at work, so I couldn't just throw it in the garden. Now I have to wait for the engineer to come out, "within two hours". Great.
I took the alarm into the garage, and it silenced, but when I brought it back in the kitchen it went off again.
Better safe than sorry I guess.

I know it's an obvious question but have you turned it off.
That is the pisser: it is out in the attached garage, and nothing gas related is running in the house, fire, cooker, but the girl on the phone said turn the gas off, open the windows, let the blizzard in, freeze my titties off...... I know it's an obvious question but have you turned it off.

Better than than having a little snooze... Forever...Stupid question, do you have the little squeeky alarm thing, or a card version? If the squeeky box thing, they go wrong all the time IME, a card version as back up could be useful...
.If it's any consolation it's not one of the NEC's finest years by all accounts. After being crushed with disappointment having seeing the footage and pictures of the bike I have a vested interest in, I couldn't be arsed to go and gave my ticket away ( toys, say goodbye to pram)

Grrrrrrr....!!All's well that ends well. The gas guy came, looked around, checked out the boiler, could see nothing wrong and could not work out why the alarm went off in the house even if the boiler WAS faulty, as there is an air-tight door tween the two, plus it is a drafty garage.
Anyhoo, I got to the bike show just an hour later than planned, bought a jacket, bought some 'Draggin' jeans', a travel book, and some other odds and ends, and got home an hour ago. Not a massive amount to see really, seeing as 1/3 of the show is helmet stores. Some nice custom bikes there though.
