Getting to Brixton Academy

Thetrainline.com / TFL website aren't quite clear on how I get there, coming from south of London, so do I need to get a train to Vauxhall and then hop on the Victoria Line tube to Brixton? Is the Vauxhall underground and Overground station the "same thing"?

Or it's quite easy to park around there - plenty of sideroads off Stockwell Road that have no parking restrictions in the evening and it's under a minute's walk to the Academy.

Evening Victoria line work in the week is all finished now. Can still be some on the weekends though.
