Yep, that's how I see it. I can't stand this government, but I also think that Cameron and his band of idiots would be equally as disastrous.

Nope. People in Britain like to think that the Democrats are like the Conservatives because you guys are totally sick of New Labour and their horsest as well as the planet's general distaste for Bush and company, but the truth is largely the opposite.

The UK is centre left and both New Labour and the Tories seem to be competing for that position. The US is probably more center right?

I dont think that's the case anymore. I've always voted Tory but NFW would I have voted for McCain. From what I saw (I was in the USA for 6 weeks leading up to the election) the Republican vote came almost exclusively from the Christian right and the unthinking white trash, a group that McCain and especially Palin courted through the whole campaign by suggesting that Obama was pally with terrorists. The professionals, regular business people and the thinking classes all seemed to go for Obama.
