Is it crazy to consider paying £800+ for a Pram?

when found out partner was pregnant my intention was to buy second hand pram but now it's closer to the due date I can't really think of buying anything other than new.

As the title suggests - do fellow PH's think it is crazy to spend £800+ on a pram?
Was thinking Bugaboo Cameleon, with couple of accessories....

I would say so,

The problem with 2-in-1 's is that sometimes one of the modes is rubbish. Not saying that the Bugaboo is going to be rubbish but our Mammas and Pappas Pamette (£400) was a great pram but rubbish buggy.

We ended up buying a Nipper 360, doesn't look as cool but it's super light and handles un-even pavements, tight spots etc etc. Plus it was only £160 IIRC.

If you want a posh pram then take a look at the Maclaren XLR

Does everything you will ever need, lasts from birth to 4+ years and you can even get a matching Recaro car seat to fit it!

The only downside is that it doesn't look 'cool' and 'funky'

We roadtested loads when we went to look at them a few years ago and the best all rounder we found was the Graco travel system which incidentally was also the cheapest. The only thing it doesn't have that I'd go for if ~I had to buy another one is some form of shock absorbence.

Agree with the 'McLaren' comment though. Only ever used the full sized pram to begin with. It gathered dust after about 4 - 6 months until child #2 came along.

£800 is a lot for a pram though! FWIW, I wouldn't.

Check it will fit in your car, and leave some room for anything else to fit too.

I spent the princcely sum of £25 for our pram from a charity shop and it was fine. Given that in 6-9 months time it will be put away in the loft, £800 seems a lot.
