Women …. Does any bloke even remotely understand how they work ?!!

The missus used to tell me that I should get out and do some more sports / get a hobby / be more active, so about a year ago I decided to get back into sailing, joined a local club and signed up as crew on a little racing J24.

Now the race season is here for us (North East Monsoon, which blows for about 3 months) and suddenly she is complaining that I am sailing too much (one Saturday a week + one “team tactics evening” a week at the bar)

Once the race season ends we will be back to the fortnightly Saturday series, so it’s not as if I am now spending the whole year doing nothing but my hobby!!!

(She doesn’t complain about the trackdays as I am usually back and home from them before she has even woken up!!)

This is more of a rhetorical post done in exasperation, but seriously … this is a “can’t win” situation isn’t it!

Anyhoo … think I will just bugger off to the pub!!

Happy Hari Raya Haji to those celebrating, thanks for the day off thumbup

Keep on doing what you're doing and humour her, women love to moan it makes them feel like they have a purpose in life, it's when they say 'I'm bored' you want to worry.

Time to hide away from the PH birds. getmecoat

You think that's bad, a colleague was getting stressed out so his wife ordered him to start stopping out for a couple of beers with the boys on a friday night. So he does. Every friday, for a grand total of....wait for it...2 beers...over 2 hours. Two hours only. Now, she's accusing him of not spending enough time at home with her.

It boils down to the fact that he gets 2 hours of social interation in a non work environment that she doesn't, being at home with the kids.

We told him to tell her to fvck off, frankly. He's the breadwinner, she does very little, he fits it aroud the family duties, he gets precisely those 2 hours alone a week off. She gets most of the day when the kids are at school to herself, but doesn't get any time out of an evening, so she begrudges that time he gets speaking to adults, when she doesn't.

In your case, it seems that she begrudges the time spent away from her. She's being irrational or at the very least complaining about something for reasons other than those that are annoying her. Talk to her, find out what she's pissed about. If necessary, bring her along to the 'tactics' event so she doesn't feel left out.

it's not just a case of us men will never understand them, they themselves, all women, don't understand themselves half the time.

so if they are as mixed up and confused as they make us feel, then what sodding chance have we got?

Too fvking true, that's when you have to keep an eye on them as "I'm bored" is your first warning of impending relationship doom!

Woman buys you two jumpers for Christmas, so you wear one at dinner. "What's wrong with the other one?" she will say. You can't win.

Where do you do your sailing? I spent a couple of years working on sailing boats in Changi yacht club, and in what used to be called Yacht Solutions, in Loyang supply base. That outfit was taken over by some Singaporean money man and is now further down the coast towards Changi.

Great summary.

1. You wear one - what's wrong with the other
2. You wear neither as it's boiling hot inside - what's wrong with the two jumpers
3. You wear both - are you bloody stupid it's boiling hot in here, you don't even need to wear one

They NEED to have something to moan about.

The trick is to find something that isn't too damaging, and do it badly, so they can moan. I have yet to master this long term so get the ear ache for being untidy (which is Ok most of the time), being a poor/reluctant cook (which she likes to moan to her friends about and is OK). I try to avoid the 'insensitive to my feelings' moan as that is hard work and leads to sulks.

They also need to be distracted, so one of her girlfriends with a problem keeps the heat off me. Almost worth paying the BF for them to be picked uip and then dumped for the peace it brings me.

As they don't break wind, if they didn't moan they'd explode.
