Ladies of PH - Other half doesn't want anything for Xmas...
Discussion
This has got all the makings of a massacre. Now I'm skating on thin ice at the moment as I genuinely haven't bought her a sausage.
We are off on a family holiday of a lifetime to Oz over Christmas and New Year and she is protesing heavily that due to the cost involved she is happy to forgoe anything for Christmas. What makes this doubly difficult is that her Birthday is couple of days before (we'll be en route this year). Usually this means I end up get stitched up twice over the festive period or the gift is combined

It is the most unsecret code.
What I am testing the water on, is if I genuinely don't get her anything - what will the reaction be

....Or does it mean new boots
, Bag and a bottle of perfume.I'll probably pick something up for her to unwrap on the flight - save any unsubtle raiding of Duty Free
Take her at face value, and don't buy anything, tell her that you are doing this, but IF she sees anything that she likes on your trip, and changes her mind then you'll buy it for her
Dad hasn't gone out and bought my Mum a birthday/christmas/anniversary present ever, but she's always been happy about it as if they see something she wants, he buys it for her
ETA - I'm quite happy getting nothing too, so long as he knows that it is 'owed'

But he could get her something, and still do this too.
Makes up for my lack of prezzies, she can have two

agreed.
Saves buying things that she doesn't really want, doesn't need and probably won't use.

So take her at her word. Buy her a birthday present and nothing for Christmas. That's what I'd do.Obvioulsy you know your OH better than us though and can judge whether she'd be more pleased with a present than annoyed that you ignored what she asked you. I'd fall into the "annoyed at being ignored" camp, but I'm not female.
It seems silly people not saying what they mean, expecting others to guess their intentions and being upset when they don't guess correctly. Just say what you mean!

If you dont get her anything she will winge.
Get her something and she will still winge about you buying something but then shut up and be happy with her new stuff.
Personally, I would go out and buy something.
This is too true; hence why if my other half keeps whinging I'll be buying her a shovel and tell her to keep digging holes!Get her something and she will still winge about you buying something but then shut up and be happy with her new stuff.

The other thing I've never gotten, it's alright for me to shower her hundreds of pounds worth of goods! She only spends the bare minimum...is there something wrong there?
She gives the message of - if I see something that reminds me of you, then I get it, the value doesn't come into it...

Like the mountain bike?
It's gone up in bits on E-bay
What I WANT is a mohair hood for the car (hint hint)

Ipod loaded with some of her faves - I'm going to get her something to break up the journey. Sometimes us men will do anything for a quiet life
