Recommend me a showerhead!!

Basically I've just moved into a rented house and the shower is pretty rubbish, with the old showerhead all scaled up and jets pointing in all directions like they've just gone 12 for 12 with a nympho. Already tried cleaning it but it made bugger all difference. The water pressure is OK, on the middle setting the water jets out hard enough to be able to use it as a parts cleaner, but on the other 'soft' settings I could barely use it to hose the suds off my behind. Because I'm renting I can't do much about the water pressure, pumps, taps, etc, so just want a decent showerhead. The one in my old house was brilliant, just a mixer tap, but the head was big and the holes large, so you got covered in large water droplets, rather than small piddley like jets.

Prefer a handset as they allow you to direct water pressure at your never-regions, however feeble the pressure. Easier to clean as well - you need to pour the descaler into the head and let it dissolve properly.

Get a Hans-Grohe Rain shower/hand shower combi using their i-box. I installed one of these recently and the quality of engineering is fantastic. The rain shower is great, it's exactly that - like a heavy rain shower, so not great artificial pressure but a much more pleasant shower. The integral hand set can be used whenever you need anything directional. The 26cm wide shower head is amazing

It is a handset that I'm looking at replacing, but unfortunately I can't change the taps, etc, so (from what I've seen) that rules out the ibox. Grohe stuff looks pretty nice though, well priced too.

I wouldn't recommend taps from bathstore but the shower head we've got is great and its pretty good value IMO. If you give it til Jan they're bound to have loads of sales on.

I have just put in a Dornbracht "big rain shower" head a 600mmx600mm flush fitted unit.

The absolute billy bks.

Not much good to the OP but if you ever get the chance, the head alone was £3500-ish.

In the one i'm doing at the moment it's getting a Signorini head, about 450mm sq with lights !!

Get the simplest most basic shower head you can find. Unless you have a decent shower, all the ones with the functions do is scale up and reduce the pressure.

I changed the lodgers shower head at my mums house from a Mira one as it always got scaled up and leaked, to a £5 jobbie, and the lodger is much more happy. It may not have a "rain" effect, but it works better.

Is it an electric shower?? If so get one for an electric shower. If it flows too much water you won't get it hot.

If it's a gravity shower, then you won't overcome crap pressure with a showerhead. Buy at your own peril and prepare to be disappointed.

Talk to the Landlord and ask them to replace the head. Probably a standard fitment. Alternatively just go to B&Q and spend a tenner on a new head yourself.
