What's the deal here?

15 minutes of advertising for every hour of viewing. A ridiculous £30+ subscription per month.

Endless choice of total crap on their channels.

Annoying Christmas ads.

Why do people still watch Television as it seems so dated in this day and age, surely just downloading it/iplayer/*.* is 100 times better, cheaper and more efficient?

You forget Sky+ - we watch everything on it, no live TV really. Skip the ads quite easily...

Have to agree, I've been getting more and more annoyed with SKY myself, if it weren't for the fact we had the cheapest deal and its just so convenient sometimes I'd probably sack them.

Sky themselves have a word for what the OP described. They call it Churn. Or when the viewers realize that it costs them a fortune and bin it.

Buy a one off freeview hard-drive recorder. Pays itself off after just a few months. Plus you can take it from tv to tv from house to house.

Stop paying, then, and get a Humax Freeview or Freesat PVR, then you get Sky+ style recording for free, plus the normal freeview channels, and top-up TV if you want more. Really don't understand why people moan about Sky but don't go elsewhere.

It's the way forward.

Anytime TV with no ads. If you record a programme with ads you can fast forward straight over the top of them at 32x. Barely notice 'em, really.

Not Sky but V+ here and it changes the whole TV thing from nothing on when I actually want to watch TV to excellent TV when I want it. I must admit that most of what I have lined up is available for free but I can't get a decent signal until the switch over so will probably go free dig in a couple of years but a time shift box is a must IMHO.

Have you ever started watching a program on SKY, and the ads come on withing the first few minutes, and they go on for so long you actually forget what you were watching?

Very annoying how they time the adverts to be the same time on different channels so you've got to go to BBC channels to avoid the ads.

I've been whinging about this for years as a Sky customer. Cannot believe they get away with charging £47 (or whatever) for the full package, whilst they're getting the advertising revenue as well.

Have just ordered V+, so no more Sky for me (or adverts!)

Anyone else annoyed that since Setanta has come along Sky Sports has a worrying lack of live games? This weekend there were 2 EPL games and none of them what I consider top notch

Don't think that is the case any more, I understand the Sky+ is free now providing you're a base package subscriber.
