Do all countries have an internet firewall system?
Take China for example. The internet enters China in a number of locations. All these entry locations have a government firewall system to monitor 'information traffic'.
I knew a guy from Canada who was living in England for a short time... he told me that he could not access certain internet sites that he regularly visited in Canada.
I was just wondering if ALL countries have some form of firewall set up by government to monitor/restrict/censor internet traffic at the points where the internet enters that country?
Common internet messages for restricted/censored sites include "The internet connection timed out" or "The connection was reset".... these form of 'error' messages to give an impression it is a fault with the ISP or your own computer, or even suggesting that the site you are trying to access no longer exists.

Many websites themselves filter which countries can access them rather than a firewall doing it. Try accessing gov.gov, it only works in the US and Canada. We do have the IWF blacklist however which is being applied to our proxy servers which does kinda act like a firewall. A lot of people are pissed off with them at the moment because they just took the leap from censoring tiny kiddy porn sites that noone has heard of to censoring a wikipedia page over a 1970s album cover featuring a naked girl. Last I heard they want to do the same to Amazon who also sell it.

I get the impression that a lot of reaction to things like this is just bandwagon jumping in the current media-driven climate of fear. I may be wrong.....
