Are we mad ? Labours 9% lead over the Tories

"The poll puts the Conservatives on 39 per cent, down two percentage points; Labour on 35 per cent, unchanged from November; and the Liberal Democrats on 17 per cent, up one point. It is the narrowest Tory lead in a Populus poll since March."
The 9% was for
"Labour has taken a nine-point lead over the Conservatives as the party most trusted to deal with the recession as its natural supporters return to the fold, according to the Populus poll for The Times. "
which is shocking.

Ah, that sounds much more likely. I would struggle to believe that Labour was 9% ahead in all, to be honest I'm surprised the Tories aren't further ahead. CommanderJameson said:

Well OK, Lib Dems are more beleivably green than the tories, here is their green policy:

May make some people better off, but I can imagine to make up for the 4p loss, the increased green taxes on anything "luxury" will be punitive.
They're basing a tax system on something unproven, and they use the classic term "Climate Chaos". Dyed in the wool greenines.
Old Dave has sat on a glacier, but I think that was bandwagon enthusiasm in the early days of his leadership.

Hmm, interesting. The Lib Dems do appear to be making a genuine effort to appear to be coming up with environmental taxes for the sake of the environment rather than just to raise money. Whether this is because they're able to come up with untenable solutions knowing they wont be in power, or because they genuinely believe in the environmental (lets not forget, whatever the consensus on here, that the HUGE majority of people in the UK seem to believe in MMGW) is hard to say.
As with everything both the major opposition parties have been saying, it's all too vague to actually tell us anything.

Some quote in Timesonline said:
Fears that the recession will be deeper and longer as consumers desert the high street will be fuelled today by new figures suggesting that retail sales are tumbling. Spending on the high street fell last month by 0.4 per cent compared with November 2007, said the British Retail Consortium.
WTF?????? How is 0.4% 'tumbling'?? Why the f
k do they always use such drama dripping drivel: tumbling, crashing, slammed etc??????????What about "fell by a minuscule 0.4%"?
Is it really so hard to write facts without trying to make a massive and obviously politically biased impact through such wordplay.

Can you dare to imagine another term with Labour, how many more looney laws whould they dream up ? how many more people in gold plated pension jobs-the public sector workforce will dominant the private sector...time to leave
The country simply cannot afford it, and I actually think a fair few people realise that now.Gassing Station | The Pie & Piston Archive | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
