I grew up in Chicago and John Coleman was a local TV weatherman there for many years. He was also famous for being the biggest joke on Chicago TV because his weather forecasts were always spectacularly wrong!
I remember one evening when Coleman predicted 10-12 inches of snow for the following day (not unusual for a Chicago winter) but all we got was a half-inch of rain. This was only one of Colman's many, many wrong weather forecasts.
Coleman had become such a big joke in Chicago that he launched a series of TV spots were he featured a local schoolboy who, as part of a school project, conducted a survey on the accuracy of local TV weathermen. This schoolboy's report concluded that John Coleman was Chicago's more accurate weatherman. Nobody could believe it was true and indeed it wasn't. Upon closer analysis, it was discovered that the schoolboy's work contained numerous errors and omissions.
Knowing this guy's track record, I wouldn't trust John Coleman if he told me the sky was blue!
