Looking at Mercmans karting thread reminded me of something from when I was little more than a toddler and the undying love, affection and deep seeded concern shown for the welfare of one’s brothers and sisters when younger.

I had one of those wooden trolleys which toddlers are given to help them learn to walk, the sort usually filled with a couple of rows of wooden blocks. From time to time my loving brother (12 years older) would feel sorry for my comparatively unexciting array of toys to play with in the garden and would empty out the blocks for me, place me on a cushion in the trolley, sometimes strap me in with a string seatbelt, and place a cardboard box over the top of me, with a couple of eye holes cut out.

He would then tie this to the rear of his kart and wiz off around the garden, me bouncing around all over the shop in the trolley being pulled along behind. Apparently when my mum caught him doing this (not the first time he did it apparently!!!) she ripped off the cardboard box to find me giggling like a loony toon and grinning from ear to ear.

So what did your loving siblings do to you, or did you do to them!

Admit it, the string was so that you couldn't escape, and the box was so that the neighbours couldn't see your brother's hand in your funzone.

Threw my brother in a pond.

Smashed a glass on his head.

Sliced him with a knife as I saw it at the butchers.

scratchchin

Oh and my sister stabbed me with a pencil....twice. I still have a dark grey mark in my hand. I assume it's graphite.

We lived in an odd house raised n a platform four feet wide and three feet high at the front and five feet high at the back. There were four of us and we had a Kettcar. We would take turns to drive while being pushed around the platform. Getting round the tighter corners was tough and required use of the brake that locked the rear wheels. The frequent crashes eventually wrecked the Kettcar and caused numerous (relatively) minor injuries.

Generally me and my brother used to pretty much try and kill each other on a regular basis.

I don't really remember any "fun times" because anything nice was usually followed by either me trashing his Lego, him ripping the head off my Tiny Tears doll, pushing each other off things onto the concrete floor of our back yard or trying to rip body parts off one another.

I do care about him a lot though and although we're really not a close family at all, we do now have a laugh together occasionally.

When I was very young, 3 or 4 years old my mum also child-minded another boy of similar age. I don't actually remember this particular incident but I do remember my little red plastic peddle car very well, it was my pride and joy. My mum was in the kitchen, we were outside in the garden' I'd just finished cleaning my car with a sponge and bucket of water and was in the process of drying it when the kid jumped in it and peddled off. Apparently I ran after him, clothes-lined him and dragged him out the car by his throat and left him crying on the ground whilst I calmly carried on with my detailing!

I am 7 years older than my little brother.

I remember on one memorable occasion, I thought it was time to widen his vocabulary.

So...I would wisper a word into his ear...and he would gleefully run and repeat his new word to his parents. This went on for a little while...then my dad came in and without saying a word, clipped me one around the ear!!! What was that for???

His reply was: "He's coming into our room and saying 'Say fk', 'Say Bugger' "

D'oh!

Should have smacked him back and told him not to say fk or bugger.
