This is going to cause the country here an estimated billion Euro, so when the news broke did everyone run out and bin all their pork products? Well no... from what I can tell, most people ran out to their local butcher/shop and bought it just like they're doing over in the UK with cigarettes... under the counter.

Have to say though, went to six shops today looking for bacon and not on is now selling. Yesterday tou could still get it on the shelves.

Total utter utter utter bks of a situation and now the (four!!!????) Irish pork processors won't start up pig processing untill they receive a big hand out from the EU (????!!!!!) Ahhhh that'll be you and me paying for it then?


Not sure if I made a sensible move but I stocked up the freezer with bacon the momen I heard it was going off the shelves, got about 4 weekes supply, I might look at selling it on the black market now....

To be honest though, it really does seem to me that none of you English folk are taking this (the pork withdrawl) seriously.

It's pretty much crippled a whole segment of the economy over here.

Well you and I might know that, but this simple truth is lost, well and truly lost amongst our leaders. YOU CANNOT LEGALY BUY BACON IN THIS COUNTRY AT THE MOMENT.

It's all gone a League Of Gentlemen Special Stuff type of scenario.

I tried to have a quiet word with my local butcher today to get a few rashers and he really wouldn't sell it. Then I went into another shop that sold me bacon yesterday (after the ban) and even they had nothing to offer.

As I said, good job I stocked up.... this is really quite serious.
