Girl given £84 Millon O'Draft limit thought she was rich!

She said: "I rang them up three days ago to ask if they could extend my overdraft by £50.
'But I was totally staggered when they then sent me a letter saying 'We are pleased to confirm that we have arranged an overdraft limit of £84,480,090.00 on your account.

"I knew they had obviously made a mistake - but I ran to the cashpoint as I want to see if I was one of the richest people in the country, sadly I wasn't."

I do hope she does really understand what an overdraft is and is just selling her story to get some obviously much needed cash. But sadly I think she may actually be a typical example of many of today's borrowers.

Well if its 0%, take a good chunk out a put it in some high interest saver for a while, make a few million then pay off the overdraft, no problemo, free money. In fact, for those students lucky enough for their parents to pay for their student life, this should be done on any regular student overdraft!

Yes, she was so stupid she rang the bank and told them they had made a mistake. She was so stupid she used the banks mistake to make a few quid selling her story. No doubt paying off some of her student overdraft on the way. But don't let that stop the abuse you post.

I wonder, if she'd have taken the money out and put it into a savings account, fully intending to repay it when asked, would she have been allowed to keep the interest? (Theoretically, I can't imagine such a transfer would go unquestioned). After all, she wouldn't have committed any crime.
