Google Maps on Mobile??

I'm gonna be changing phones soon and saw that one particular phone supported the above. Is it any good? Is it worth ignoring other phones in favour of this one?

The phone in question was a Sony Ericsson C702.

Don't get a C702 on O2, they diasable Google Maps on the ones they sell! Had to de-brand mine to get Google Maps working.

And try someone's before you buy one, I gave up on mine after a couple of days as I found it way too fiddly to use, went back to my K750i.

Very good from what I've found. Can be very data heavy though so worth making sure you have the right tarrif.

Far from it on the iphone at least.

I have the sony, its ok, its not great but not bad personally when out and about is just use my internet usb stick in the laptop and use googe earth!! but the location services on the sony are good if you are lost, mine seems to find me to within 30meters!!

Google Earth app for the iPhone too - gives you all the extra bits you don't get with Google Maps. You need a network connection though - no way can it hold all those maps!

Iphone has both Google Maps (including Streetview) and Google Earth. Both work really well, and are integrated with the GPS.

I have a blackberry curve which i downloaded google maps on to it.

I have the gps bit in the phone which links in with google maps, very good.

Pretty well any smart phone can accomodate google maps, why not think about a smart phone with a gps section and you have it all?

google maps is great.

You can do searches for "restaurant" near your location and it'll pull up all the results nearby, give you the latest reviews, menu prices and phone number.

yep, reasonable for directions as a sat nav but a bt slow to update position

Comes on the Blackberry storm, pretty quick at updating with a decent 3g signal. Not tried it with satnav yet though.

I have it on my N95, works very well and I use it a lot. Even if the GPS is not locked it triangulates using the cells, still pretty accurate, good enough to find an address or look at an area.

have got it on an LG. well worth having, saved me many a hassle finding places or looking at alternative routes. also dead handy on foot.

i'd say get a phone you can add apps to easily. there are a few good free gps apps you can use with a wireless gps receiver, but phones like my LG don't support them

Nokia E71 has it built in and you can download the update.

A-gps too so it finds you within seconds.
