Another What TV thread

I'm looking to spend around £350 on a 32" LCD, I've narrowed down to the Toshiba Regza 32CV505D or the Sony Bravia KDL-32V4000. Both of which are there or there abouts on price, the Sony seems to be better spec'ed, the Toshiba marginally cheaper. Any TV buffs got an opinion? Or any alternatives to further confuse me?

I think this topic has been done to death! At that sort fo money you basically need to go into a shop. look at both on terrestrial input and see which one you like the best!

It's a little over budget but your eyes will thank you.

Its the smallest plasma available on the market so immediately has the upper hand over the LCD sets.

It's the best 32" set by a country mile.

ETA, looking around, by the time I've added a 3yr warrenty like Der. is offering on his sets at present its more like and extra £150.

Don't they have a better contrast ratio for one thing, blacker blacks and lots of other stuff, plotloss will learn you.

I got my in-laws that very LG from Empire direct with a 3yr warranty and I think it was around £430.

Is pi$$es all over my 26" samsung LCD in the bedroom.

They do look very nice indeed in terms of both picture quality and aesthetics, you can't go wrong with em, do a search on AV forums for that model no.

Had a look at this the other day, a few people complaining of 'image retention' others saying it's not a problem - any thoughts?

Not a problem.

In fact, I reckon you would have to try, really hard, on purpose, to get a modern plasma to get image retention.

I,m currently looking for a new TV and have been looking at the Panasonic TH-37PX80 in the latest what HI-FI magazine.

I seem to remember reading that the viewing distance plays a part in selection. I will be around 8-9 feet from the set, so which is best Plasma or LCD?
