Trying to weigh three £1 coins! Help please!

I'm using antique letter scales to try and weigh some items I'm about to list on ebay. But the items seem alot heavier than I imagined, so I've weighed the pound coins hoping someone can confirm the weight, thus calibrating my antique methods!

The weights I'm using are Drams.

My scales are telling me that three £1 coins weigh near as damn it 16 Drams (1 ounce/28.34952 grams).

If anyone can confirm that using modern methods I would be very grateful.

That's good news, I was worried I had doubled the weight of everything. My old Samuel Mordan weights are still pretty accurate by the sound of it!

What are the year of the coins? I'm assuming 80's anyway because they sound quite light!

Can you do me another favour and weigh a 50 pence piece please!
The one I have is a 2002 coin, which weighs just under 5 Drams, but I can't get any more accurate with my weights, and a more accurate reading would be good. I'm guessing 4.8 Drams (0.3 ounces/8.5 grams).

No, a mate of mine collects coins (name of Coinboy1004 on ebay) and has an amazing collection.

Does he collect world coins at all? I have an 1867 Hong Kong Half Dollar which is apparently a rare coin that I want to sell! I'm not a coin collector, I just got given a load of coins by my grandad years ago.

Yes, he buys from around the world. He'll tell you what's it worth and whether he's interested in buying it, but I think he usually only goes for extra fine or 'brilliant unused' or 'uncirculated' condition.
