How is the post office getting away with this
Discussion
How long can the post office keep it's monopoly, It used to be that my postman dilivered about 7.30am and then again at about 1pm, now he delivers about 1pm an sticks a card through my door, because the envolope is a bit to big, I then have to go to the sorting office an que with about 50 other people they have done the same thing to, For f
ks sake it's the middle of the day most people are at work.
Now i read they are going to go on strike so they can f
k up peoples christmas's as well.
how long can they keep doing such a crap job?

I think its something to do with it being impossible for anyone else to turn a profit doing the same thing at the same price.
ETA city link (which to be honest are not much better) charge roughly a tenner (depening on your price plan etc..) for a "link letter"
Post office will do the same for under four quid.

There have been many complaints about that. I was waiting behind the door (I'd seen the van draw up outside) when the postman shoved a card through and swung it open to catch him turning away. "Bell wasn't working." he muttered - Ding-Dong - of course it was...
I complained to the local delivery office, he always rang the bell after that.

<In the spirit of PH pedantry> Strictly speaking it's not a monopoly - for years one other operation was allowed to deliver post, and then more recently others have local delivery rights...Must say though that the traditional Royal Mail is frankly a terrible service

I hate collecting stuff from the Post Office, that f
king tiny room like a Glaswegian pisser with a stupid little hatch at the end through which you can see a warehouse full of retards, like the dungeon in Beyond Thunderdome. I thought things would get better now they've installed a computerised system but I was wrong. On the upside, I don't have to wait twenty minutes whilst some extra from Deliverance looks in every pigeon-hole in the damn building - five times; on the downside the package they hand me is almost never the one I went in for. Do I look like Mrs f
king Bradbury? And when you tell them they've made a mistake there's no sense of contrition, no indication that randomly giving out parcels is in any way wrong. Apparently Mrs Bradbury, as well as having the same initial as me, lives on a road that shares the same first three letters. Thank f
k for that, I was almost ready to believe it was just a s
t system operated by intellectual pygmies.

3pm. Luxury. The other day I was walking home from work at 5:15pm, and I saw the postie delivering down our street. My wife confirmed that the days post had only arrived 5 minutes before I arrived home. 5:15 bloody pm.I have also seen them write the cards before even attempting delivery.
