Shower question

Evening all.

A question for the plumbers.

My (Triton) electric shower developed a fault yesterday whereby turning it off (both on the unit and at the pull cord switch) no longer stops the water flowing through it. Thw switch still "feels" like it's working.

This now means that if I have a shower I have to first climb into the loft, release the inline valve, climb back down and then turn it on to get the water to heat up. Less than ideal...

Does this mean I'm in for a new shower or is this a common fault that can be repaired??

Water solenoid failure.

Google for triton spare parts. Easy fix.

does the switch have a Red Neon light within it? If it does and it goes on & off when the switch is switched then it can only be your solenoid.

Thank you very much- that is exactly the site I'd got to following your first post- it's the Triton Alicante so that'll be part 6 on the diagram (?) £27.

Yeah, you will see the solenoid when you take the cover off, the water pipe will call in there first, when you energise it by turning the shower on it will open and allow the water to flow to the flow valve and boiler unit.

Poking about is just about OK, just don't take anything apart.....you may well be left with some "bits" when it goes back together.

Fair points- I had the shower installed by a professional and I'll have it repaired by a professional. Whilst I'm hapy to attempt most things, water and electricity do not mix and I'd prefer to keep it that way.

It's just good to be informed before I make the call.

Don't get a new part for £27.
Get a new Triton from Screwfix for £50.
