Popped into Woollies lunchtime

Went down the town to get some sandwiches so had to take a look.

Probably been mentioned on here hundreds of times already, Tell everyone you have gone bust and are having a closing down sale, huge great posters on the windows 50% off everything.

It was packed, I mean heaving, you couldn’t move, but the signs actually said up to 50% off and all the stuff was really 10 and 20% off, the que’s to pay were huge and people were buying loads.

Is this the marketing coup of the year?

Although this has only recently changed. There was one store in staffs I believe that had EVERYTHING at 50% off for one day, they filmed the advert there and were technically allowed to say it, people didn't notice the 'participating stores' thing at the bottom, which is much more overlooked than the 'up to' that everyone gives themselves a pat on the back for noticing.

I went in at the weekend, shelves stripped people cueing out the door! had a look at the prices to see if there were any genuine bargains and Tesco and Asda are selling stuff cheaper than Woolies even after the 20 or 30% off!. I think its a case of stupid people thinking they are getting a bargain.

Saw that last week, the "Up to" is in small lettering above a big 50% off.
