Has a helicopter just crashed...

I live in a residential area (obviously) where to the end of my back garden is a coach house adjoined to another row of houses; about ten minutes ago a rather loud noise suddenly emerged...like an engine, whirring as if it'd hit trouble in a war zone.
Rather than take cover I darted for the door and to my amazement witnessed a military-esque 'copter about ten foot off of the roof of the coach house; the pilot managed to veer right and the 'copter narrowly missed the rooftop of the adjoining house - the helicopter continued up the street at the same height, no higher...
there was no bang or wallop and the helicopter has gone from sight; I've heard no sirens nor seen any flames! Now I ask, has it crashed or is this a well rehearsed set-up and a pilot honing his skills?
The nearest military base is some distance away and the beach of which I've seen them training in the past about a mile away as the crow flies. Can military jets/helicopters practise in a manner where they're so close to residential property!
Have to see in the valleys here, a little distance away, I've witnessed the jets at road height in the valley, loop over the road - and the cars contained within it - and into the dip at the other side! Truly amazing...

I did look, actually picked up my mobile and jogged up the road...but nothing! I've heard some sirens since but who knows; its just bloody frightening - Ive been close to some jets/helicopters before but I seriously thought this one was coming down and about to take my head off my shoulders with its rotor blades!Second thought, whilst you were typing this, the potential survivors have all burned to death....
Or maybe they just found Osama in the garden shed?
Had a Chinnok flying along the A303 in Hants some months ago at about 80 feet - looked like he was about to land on the carriageway. Most amazing noise ever when it flew over my car - talk about almost crapping yourself.
if I remember most of the SouthWest (where you live?) is a low fly zone for Helicopters, isnt it....?

Some years back a lorry containing gas cannisters caught fire on the M3 alongside Basingstoke. The cannisters were igniting and being blown several hundred yards across other roads and the M3 aswell as landing near a housing estate. As I watched just out of range, a Chinook on it's way to Odiham landed on the M3 to see if it could be of any help. I think you're right; I've been running on the beach here in the past (its a good 7 mile stretch) when I heard a similar noise and a Chinnok came into sight literally 60-80 foot up; the noise of it was unbelieveable.if I remember most of the SouthWest (where you live?) is a low fly zone for Helicopters, isnt it....?
This just shook me slightly as I've never seen one get so close, or close to any other building without crashing!

A friend of my brothers used to be a Seaking pilot and, amongst other things, landed in another friends back garden one day for afternoon tea. Apparently they were on a "training" mission.

We live on a hillside, about 130m above sea level and we quite often see C130's flying nearby but a month or so back, Friday night at around 11:30 pm one came right over the house and nearly shook the slates off the roof. Must have been under 100ft of clearance.
I reckon they just do it for the buzz - beacuse they can - and fair play to 'em. It scared the bejezus out of out but it was pretty impressive too.
