Standard Life. unclaimed demutualisation entitlements

Maybe i've had my head in the cuboard for the last couple of years, but whats this about?
I received a letter today from a company called "Georgeson" Asking me if i'm a person that used to live at a given address (My previous addresss)
Having a bit of a search through thier website & Standard Life's website it would seem there was some sort of pay out that I may have missed out on.
Any one have any idea what this may be? Don't seem to recall Standard Life getting hold of me about it, they send me statements every year so they know where I am.
Or is this some sort of scam?
I do have an endownment with S.L for the last 14/15 years.
Or should i get my order in for a shiney new Aston

I have a few SL shares and their website is showing that they are looking for people who have yet to claim their share entitlement.

That said, it may still be a scam. You're probably best off contacting SL direct.

Mine were about £800 free shares IIRC.

It could be a nice windfall for you.

I had the same thing a couple of months back from Georgeson, and seems perfectly legit - certainly I got a nice cheque out of them for the shares that I'd completely forgotten about, followed shortly afterwards with a smaller one covering the missed dividend payments.
