Labour cost to install some spotlights?

Just normal ones like these...



I usually use people employed full time by me anyway for electrical work but they are off on early holiday and I need this work completing ...

Had a few quotes to get these fitted to a normal plaster ceiling, and cheapest quote was £25 per spotlight install! Anyone in the trade or recently had such done know what the going rate is? My boys were usually on £75 per 10hour day.

Im not being funny-but you claim to be a stocktrader whith a fleets of Rolls Royces and you bother to get "a few quotes" to fit a few poxy spotlights when £25 per spotlight sounds completely normal and even if it wasnt it is too small amount to worry anyone.
Something doesn't quite add up here.....

£25 sounds about right. Your boys were on far more than £75 per day, you forgot to include employee NI, tools, transport, training etc all of which a self employed has to provide.

Is that £75 per hour for 10 hours or £75 for a 10 hour day? If the latter...

All I have to say is if you have sparkies for £75 a day I'll hire them for a few years. For a bog standard sparky you are looking £15-£20, Apprentices get more than £75 a day!!! For someone who is qualified you will be looking at around £30k+ for 30 odd hours a week.

I can't imagine any qualified tradesman/professional getting out of bed for £7.50 per hour, that is nothing short of slave labour.

If that includes drilling the holes he is under charging, regardless of how often you've done it it'll still take you about 10 mins per light (in my experience).
