Another manufacturing company down the pan =(

Sonas Automotive have gone into administration, sadly one of our main customers

2nd manufacturing company this month I believe along with Wagon Automotive so that's two large plants now in administration in the Birmingham area.

Also know of several toolmakers closing in the past month as well in other parts of the West Mids area Not good times!

One of our steel profilers - laser and plasma - went at the start of this month. They were in Burntwood.

Apparently, we were their third largest account, behind JCB and Caterpillar (they make some of their machines in Leicester), but in recent months we'd taken the top slot, despite our volumes being affected by the credit crunch.

We've also lost a local machining sub contractor the month before. It's absolute carnage out there, but this is what happens after a bubble.

I think sadly for manufacturing the bubble has not stopped bursting since the 90s just been a downwards spiral

I've worked for Lucas Industries (RIP - Now TRW, DELPHI or dead),
Garrett (Honeywell engine Boosting systems - DEAD in the UK, alive and kicking in Romania and Italy)
Hurel Hispano (Now Aircell - No idea how they are doing, but I hope the senior managers are erm DEAD)
Husco (Major supplier to JCB, - who now make more diggers in India - just anounced redundancies in UK and USA due to lack of construction industry).
But I'm currently working in oil industry, so thumbs up at the moment, except that our parent company is spread across all aspects of world manuafacturing, so capital spend is being carefully looked at- I have £1m projects on hold)
