Ripping Blue-Ray films

Is it possible to make copies of Blue-Ray films to put them on to portable devices like I-pods etc ? Or make copies to play on a second HD TV ?

What if he only has the movie he wants to rip on a blu-ray disc and wants to keep it on his Ipod to watch on the train/plane/etc.

The native res is 480x320 so it would be a somewhat pointless exercise.

Pretty sure you can - there are loads of BlueRay ripped (allbeit reduced in quality) titles on the torrent sites.

Win Avi (normally availble on torrent sites) rips video files to ipod and other devices like psp.

But as (ABOVE) said its pointless, Dvd qual is good enough on a screen of that res.

Hd movies are usually ripped to .mkv format files

fek knows how you make them though.

Try google for a start. I seem to remember a prog called AnyDVD HD can do it.

For playing on an ipod you may as well just download the film from a torrent.
If ripping Blu-ray is illegal you may as well take the easier option. Have you any idea how long a BR would take to encode? And it would be a bugger if you found the audio was out of sync after all that time.

You can legally own a copy of any movie or music album you own the original of.

If not for this loophole putting an album onto your ipod would get you arrested.

Don't think it's illegal as long as you still own the original copy, in a similar way to it not being illegal to put all your CD's onto your iPod, wouldn't the file be enormous though?

The short answer is yes it is possible, although there's 0 point putting one on an Ipod.

Dunno about blueray, but on doovdes I use http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/ followed by http://handbrake.fr/

Handbrake used to do it all itself, but they annoyingly removed that feature for some reason. Use the decrypter to get the video_ts folder, then point Handbrake at it, select ipod touch and hit go
