lump on roof of my mouth + feels swollen on that side

Hi are there any dentists around, please I need your help. I have a lump in my mouth on the bony bit on the right hand side going on the roof of my mouth. (been there for about a month) It also feels like the skin on the stretchy bit is swollen along with the the soft palet going down to my throat and it feels like I am trying to swallow a lump! I have had ear ache and my sinunes are playing up really badly. Been to the dentist and he said he thinks it is a nodule and it is not irregular to be mouth cancer. He is wrighting to the dental hospital but said it is not an emergency but would like it seen to soon. I am under a lot of stress - as my son has luekemia for the second time and my family are causing trouble and not bothering with me or thier only grandchild / newphew! Dentist thinks I am under a lot of strain which is causing the symptoms is this correct? Is this mouth cancer or just a nodule / blocked / infected parotid gland? along with sinus problems. Thank you for all your help. P.S. You lot are all so damn good and look after us, so billons of love X
Avoid OWOSeeing as the only dentist who has seen it says that it's a nodule, that it's not anything serious and not to worry about it, I would tend to go along with that. I don't see how you think some random poster on the internet would have a better idea, really. 
If you're that desperate for a second opinion, you could try your nearest dental hospital, most of them usually run a drop in A&E type clinic where somebody could look at it for you.

Thank you Gordon I will try but being with my son 24/7 with intensive chemo and only getting an hour here and there is really difficult. Plus he is so netrapenic I have to be carefull! If I leave it will it go away?
