Teflon and washing it.

After a bit of advice chaps.

At uni I remember doing some work on Teflon and the use of surfactants on it. Thats about all I remember and I'm not at home so can't dig out text books/notes - and could also do with advice of proper engineers rather than my poor attempt at engineering.

What is safe to wash Teflon in, what level of detergents can be used before the Teflon is damaged, and how best to clean Teflon coated items (to the point of sterilisation)?

Can anyone point me in the direction of Journals/papers to do with this too?

Long shot, but PH never fails to come up with the goods.

It's probably not much help, but I had a jacket made of teflon coated cotton and the wash label said not to use any surfactants at all when washing it.

If it's Teflon how did it get dirty in the first place?


And while we're on the subject, why does stainless streel need cleaning?
