California may go bust

Good old arnie! apparently due to the years of overspending there is every chance California may be bankrupt by Feb,can happen apparently orange county went that way in the 80s ....FFS.

Apparently they applied for a bail out and has been rejected by government,talk about thrown to the wolves good ol dubya,what with all the natrual disasters they have endured this year in california.

Orange county choppers used to be in New York may be wrong,I think they havew moved now? I was just saying I enjoy the show.

Nothing out of the ordinary. As with most states, the majority of income is generated by property tax revenue. These taxes are capped, so that they can't increase more than a few points per year (not certain what the cap is in CA). As a result, most property tax revenues are generated by sales transactions, rather than annual increases. No sales transactions = dwindling tax revenue.

You're forgeting sales tax, mate. We are going to up it a bit for this reason.

Something's gotta give. Upping purchase tax is a damn-sight fairer than upping income tax.
FL is considering re-introduction of state income tax for the same reason ((massive state budget defecit). I'd far rather take a couple of point hit on sales tax.
