Im in the market for a new car.
I just spoke to a salesman who said he would "chuck a few grand on the windscreen price" to satisfy a finance companies deposit. I understand the logic behind it, but is this normal, or should I leg it?

i'm looking at a new build property at the moment and they were suggesting they could do the same thing.

however, they gave me an idea of a few people i should not tell this to if asked, and admitted that if they were asked they would have to be 100% honest

Gifted deposits in Property has been a norm for a long time, many lenders were aware. Some didnt like it some had no issue.

On cars its a naughty thing to do.
