Can't believe i'm asking this... what washing machine?
Discussion
Ours has just packed up and the warranty won't cover it because Hotpoint no longer make the part that has gone (fecking marvellous!). If I leave it to the Mrs she'll be wooed by all the marketing pap and we'll end up with something useless, so... can anyone recommend me a washing machine? Not interested in fancy hollocks, I just want something that's reliable.

I found a link to http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=For... on here. Fantastic forum. Basically a PH for everything white good related.
It's good as you can read reviews of kit from the maintenance guys who fix them... so they know what goes wrong and what doesn't.

Ahotpoint, Indest and Ariston are basically the same machines with a different badge on them, Hoover and candy are the same iirc - ahve a read of the article "the great washing machine swindle" on ukwhitegoods to give you an idea of whats going on in the whitegoods industry as even quality brands like bosch are cutting corners
The people who put together ukwhitegoods seem to have the answer with the ISE range of machines, local engineer delivers it, warranty with AXA insurance built into the cost, parts not extortionate for when they do need replacing
