Ah, well. I was due to finish for two weeks today over Christmas. At 2pm, the business owner told me I could have as long as I wanted, as I was being made redundant, with one week's notice.

Looks like Monday and Tuesday are going to be spent job hunting.

Sadly I've only been there 5 months, so I have about as many rights as a floating poo.

I hope it works out for you. I went through rough times with my illness and not working and it is tough.

If you can't get anything straight away, spend sometime on here. Being able to chat to like minded souls really helped me keep my head above water on bad days.

I for one will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Hope it goes well and you get something as soon as possible.

I've always been a salesman. Spent 13 years with the same company, out on the road. Had my accident, went to prison. The company stuck by me, but I couldn't do my job properly without being out on the road myself, so I looked for other work. I was taken on by a company who supply water coolers (an AquAid franchisee), but that business is beginning to fall on it's arse.

I was hoping to get at least a month's notice, but I suppose that's the way things go.

Same kind of thing inspired Duncan Bannatyne to start his own business, as he found himself fairly unemployable after that. If you can sell, you should never go hungry

Sorry to hear that 10p, I was made redundant after 15 years with the same company back in mid-September and although i've had plenty of interviews I am still unemployed.

In the same boat selling things but company is headed for the stter so I was made redundant along with half the sales team last week.

On the upside the house and garage is now looking very tidy
