Going Bald Sucks........

I'm sure I'm not the only man on here who is currenty suffering the devastating effects of male pattern baldness, I am 27 and hair has been thinning since around he age of 21, my hairline has seriously receded and is also very thin around the crown.

Luckily I am 6ft4 so people notice it less on me, but this is still the one thing that gets me down about myself.....I would happily sacrifice a finger or two to have a full head of hair. Has anyone on here tried hair transplants or other methods to combat this?!

I'm 29 and have a receeding hairline. I wouldn't worry about it, after all my opinion is 'st happens'.

Anyway, they say that bald blokes are more 'virile', I'm not sure if it's true or not (I'm a lazy bd) but maybe that thought will cheer you up.

Or you could just shine up the bald patch and use it as some sort of reflector to glare people with on those rare days that it is sunny.

I too am cursed with a receding hairline. I have elected not to shave it all of until 'the island' threatens to appear - you know, the lone tuft of hair at the front left behind when the rest of the hairline has long since disappeared.

I wouldnt worry about it.

Mine is going (albeit I'm a teeny weeny bit older) and I'm not fussed. I've got a lot of mates who went bald years ago (early-mid 20's) and they all just shaved it. Thankfully, having a shaved head is trendy!

The four lads I'm thinking of now, I cant imagine with hair. They'd look rediculous!

It happens to a lot of us, some are worried about it, some aren't.

Personally I think the transplants/combovers/wigs/whatever other quack cures there are just look daft, although that's just my opinion.

I had a number 2 ten years ago, then gradually reduced it to 1, 0 and now use a razor once or twice a week. Best thing I ever did, but then my hair always looked stupid anyway. My view is that shaving it off looks better (and is much easier maintenance) than trying to hide it.

Also, as a 6'4" Skinhead, people will treat you differently! No idea why, but they do.

It's part of life, accept it, buzz cut and move on. Surely your self image is more than just what's on your head, right?

I've been baldie for years now and I think it's great. Apart from when it's really cold, when you need a wooly hat. I can tell it's raining before anyone else though and I never have bed hair

My thoughts entirely. I've always had a positive atitude to lack of hair since reading Clive James' treatise on being an "own-up baldie" back in the 1980s.

my hair gradually thinned from my late 20's (now in my 40's ) - I have a number 1 or 2 haircut ( am thin on top - not (yet) a complete slap head.

It bothered me a little in my 20's / early 30's - doesn't really now , and it doesnt seem to make any difference to whether women find you interesting /attractive or not.

something like 40% of men have thinning hair - whats the problem

The worst for me is when you go to the bank or some such with the security cameras pointing down from the ceiling and you catch a glimpse of yourself on the TV behind the counter. I was obviously aware I am thinning on top but i'm starting to look Russ Abbott now. Still such is life.
