People going to the cinema alone....
Discussion
Went to the flicks last night and had a bloke sit behind us who seemed a tad strange.
Apart from his eating habits ( 19 hot dogs, 47 family sized bags of popcorn, 23 tubs of ice cream and a diet coke ), his laughing out very loud, his talking to himself, his random noises (I think he was knocking one out.....) he seemed quite a nice chap.
Question (apart from is he a freaky nutter killer), is it normal to go to the pictures alone?
Anyone ever done this? did you feel weird?

I go to the movies alone. My OH sometimes doesnt feel like being put through 2 hours of an action or horror movie, she only likes comedies or love stories.
I absolutely love horror films, so I usually end up going by myself. I actually quite like it. One time I even lit a cigarette way up on the corner and had a smoke as I was the only one in the theatre. I tend to go early Monday mornings when no one else does.

Sounds like he had a quality time! So much so that it actually prompted YOU to tell the world on website forum.
Trust me, if you'd been there, you'd know what 360 is on about.Ally refused to go to the toilet, as he thought he might come back to my dead popcorn covered body....My hero

The confectionery killer strikes again! and leaves his trade-mark calling card... all butter pop-corn

Seriously though - it aint easy going to the flicks on your own and not looking like a bit of a social misfit! I had to go to see Transformers on my own because nobody else believed it was such a top film... and there was no way I was going to wait for the DVD.

That's nothing. Attend any cinema in Los Angeles. They take their main form of dramatic expression seriously here, shouting at the screen, hurling abuse at piss-poor adverts, standing to applaud heroes who blast away villains with a handgun and a quip! "Yesss! You're da man!"
If a plot goes in a direction they dislike it's: "Owe, for gawdssake! You cannot be serious?!!!"

Went to the Criterion on 3rd in Santa Monica a couple of times, one of which was for Ironman. Much whooping and "hell yeah!". Was quite fun. In a novelty kind of way.Ive only done this once. I sat down (this was the middle of the afternoon, a weekday)The cinema maybe had a dozen people in it... in walks three girls...they walk down past me...as they take their coats off one of them spots me on my own and says "do you want some company"? I say...
"No thanks"
I have no idea why i said no, what a tw@t i was

I haven't missed a James Bond film at the cinema in almost 30 years (first one was "The Spy Who Loved Me" in 1977 with my dad) yet I missed Quantum of Solace as my wife didn't fancy it and my son had already seen it with my mates. So my only real option was going on my own, which I didn't really fancy.

I don't think going to cinema on your own in the UK is frowned upon. However, I believe masturbation whilst watching the film is.
Good one, and too true!Gone to the cinema on my own heaps of times, but only whilst travelling on business. Loads around the Leatherhead area particularly as I was based there weekdays for a year and here was fvck all else to do in any of the local sh!tholes..
