Holding the World to ransom, who's with me?

Right, I've had an idea for a while (I might have mentioned it already, I can't remember) but for one reason and another, mainly really busy at work, I've not put it into action. I've got the plan, I've got the idea but I'm not a details man, I need a team around me to fill in the blanks.
Basically I want to hold the world to ransom.
How? I hear you ask...well, air pressure. Simple.
Air pressure at ground level is greater than the vacuum in space, yeah? With me? Well, what we do is build a really long tube from a small plot of land out into space. We put a tap on the end that is in space. We then tell the world that unless they give us everything we want we will let out all the air from the world.
So...who's with me? I know there are a few hurdles but they're not insurmountable...

Good question. I must admit to not wanting much, although HRGs Griff has caught my eye tonight.
An end to disease, poverty, yada yada, you know, populist stuff to keep people onside...
