Satisfying noises
Discussion
Just some random thinking here, but there are certain sounds which I find really satisfying to hear, such as
The first 'glug' from a freshly opened bottle of port
The mechanical 'chunk' of a rally car sequential 'box selecting first on the start line
A pump action or semi auto shotgun being loaded
Any others out there which people find appealing or is it just me?

The start-up whine of a jet turbine.
The smack of leather on willow - regardless of whether you like cricket or not - or indeed any sound in sport of something being hit absolutely perfectly...cricket balls, golf balls, A N Other boxers chin...
An Alfa V6 at full pelt.
The almost total lack of noise when it's snowing.

Oh yes, I used to stand next to 'my' old GE when it was starting up, going through various warm up slow cranking stages, before finally spinning up on the hydraulic starter before ignition, and then.......0-25MW in seconds!! very cool.fathomfive said:
