I'm not starting this thread to argue the toss over Buckley vs Burke - that's being done to death elsewhere and the answer is clearly Buckley anyway. Quote me and argue on the other thread if you want.

What I want to know is, after months of searching, millions of pounds, truly huge amounts of time and resources, training, vast exposure and all the hype Lord Cowell of Trousers can muster, they came up with Alexandra Burke singing Hallelujah in an overblown and really very conventional (i.e. forgettable) manner.

I found THIS in 20 seconds of Youtubing.

Could I have saved them a lot of effort?!

You're right, it's balls.

These competitions would be much more emaningful if the entrants had to write their own song, play an instrument and sing. Not just rehash someone elses hard work.

P.S. Don't worry, I'm not daft, I know it's a money spinning exercise, just strikes me as very tedious.

As I said on another thread,it's just over-produced Karaoke...

X-Factor is just a fancy karaoke competition.

Yes, Cowell will have netted millions I'd assume. I'd imagine the others (Whoever they are now) will have made a fair few quid out of it too.

"Make millions pedalling st to morons" If I could do it I'd be right there. Good luck to them.
Also, when I did see the odd xfactor in the past, Cowell seems to come out as the most honest. Brutal maybe, but he's the only one I'd go for a pint with.

As I heard somewhere last night (possibly the news), Cowell has taken the fun out of the race for Christmas number 1. Its a foregone conclusion now.

What makes me laugh is that even in times of "economic downturn" people still flock out to buy a song which in all honesty is pants. I bet the vast majority who have purchased it will never listen to it.

One of the problems with the show is that contestants have to sing songs that have no meaning to them, that they don't understand, is out of their comfort zone, et etc. One of the highlights of this year is that those in the bottom 2 sing-offs were able to sing a song of their own choice, which was a great idea and gave us some real surprises, notably with Ruth.

So yes, I agree, Alexandra Burke singing this song is completely wrong. I can't imagine how many old biddies are buying it thinking its a nice christmas song with a religious theme smile.

I think she does an ok job with it, but its just not a song that should be treated this way.

Why are there men discussing X Factor?
What the hell has happened to this place.
It used to be a site where red-blooded males came to talk about fast mens things and killing endagered animals with clubs and such.
Now all people seem to discuss is how best to have sex with other men.
Ludicrous

Honestly-who gives a flying toss about any of it?

I saw that too.
I fink they said the last 'true' battle was 2003 - before the X Factory st began
It was Gary Jules (Mad World rehash) and the Darkness

There is minimal discussing of x-factor, What is actually happening here is that red-blooded men are having a rant about how much of a cock Simon Cowell is and how hes ruining music in this country.

Hmmmm.
I see your point Stu.
But mine also still stands.
What does it matter whether the result matters.
Why do these 'men' even know who Simon Cowell is?
Who is Simon Cowell?

I the only acceptable thread about X Factor would be:

"I saw the Xfactor results on the news before Match of the Day the other night and did anyone get a look at that woman jugs hanging out (the famous woman whos name I obviously don't know because I am a hetero and don't read heat)?

There is a need to discuss X factor though - we need a way to get the st off telly. Once we've worked out how to do that, we could apply the same principles to stupid s prancing, I'm a washed up egomaniac etc etc etc.

Then we'd just need a few hit men to take care of the Jeremy Kyle ilk (the brain dead morons that follow all this st too) and there may - just may be a chance that some of the TV producers may consider spending some money on putting a decent production together.

The earlier version of Hallelujah that all the self appointed taste police are preaching about is a bag of st by the way.

You're obviously not subjected to Radio f*c*ng 1 all day in your office.

I envy you.

Haven't you just described that Saturday morning Channel 4 (I think) unsigned bands show?

Our TV is forever sceening ste like this, Strictly Come dancing (the ), Americas Top Model (and every other variant of it eg: UKs Top Model, Australias Top Model, Kaxhakstans top model etc).
I fking hate it all with a passion that I find difficult to reconcile.
And it MY fking tele!!!!
I would put my foot down but theres such a load of crap on that I would feel a bit stupid saying-"no we are not having this any more. I insist we watch Graham Norton"
Grrrrrrrrrr
