I thought I'd ask the great and the good of PH if there are any UK retailers selling imported Blu Ray (and DVDs) that are compatible with a HK PS3.

I believe that this is Region 2 for Blu Ray and Region 3 for Doovdes?

I believe that Region 2 covers the US as well as HK, as I can't stand the editing that they have in HK releases (ie Batman was 30 minutes shorter over there!!)

Correct region A is USA and FE.

Hence playUSA is a good source of region A BR DVD's

Incidently a lot of blurays don't have any region, you can check which ones here:

http://bluray.liesinc.net/

I have a US version of Bladerunner that works fine on my UK PS3.

If you do a search you will find the software you need to turn the PS3 into a multi-region player

Pfft not a chance of this happening any time soon.

And if it does happen Sony will just issue a software update to counter your "unlocking"

Yeah if you have a link to that I would be very interested but I think you are mistaken!

+1, I could really do with it as I have a lot of R1 DVD's that I can no longer play.

Seriously guys do you REALLY think that Sony would allow a hack like that??? As soon as a hack rears its head Sony will issue an update to counter it and trust me they will.

Or they might even do what Microsoft do, when a 360 has been hacked or tampered with, render the console un-usable.

I for one would love to make my PS3 multi-regional but I cannot see it in the near future.

tell me about it! I really do not see the point in making some BR DVD's region coded. Especially with the internet and ease of importing different region coded discs.
