When are we rioting?
Discussion
It's amazing that we haven't had any riots yet, Iraq War alone would have been enough to get previous generations throwing scaffolding poles at the BiB let alone the financial mismanagement of this Government.
Maybe it's all the fluoride in the water? In fact even that is a good enough reason to smash some shop windows.
So what will trigger the riots that end this shameful administration?

The people will start to riot ?
When their benefits are cut. no more plasma TV's. No money for White lightening Cider, Rockport boots, tracksuit bottoms and their weed.
Decent middle class people wouldn't riot and take to the streets, they have too much to lose. Houses, Cars, family, freedom etc.

Exactly the sorts of people who riot are either quite happy on benefits or pleased with what they see as the capitalist system failing. When their benefits are cut. no more plasma TV's. No money for White lightening Cider, Rockport boots, tracksuit bottoms and their weed.

You need people on the streets first and it's bloody cold out there at the minute.
It can't be cold out there, apparently we've been experiencing Global Warming for the last 10 years. You need people on the streets first and it's bloody cold out there at the minute.
At least that's what they've been taxing us for.

The way things are going, the riots may start from the middle classes. We're fed up with having to work hard, only to see a large proportion of our earnings taken away to pay for all of the parasites in this country! When their benefits are cut. no more plasma TV's. No money for White lightening Cider, Rockport boots, tracksuit bottoms and their weed.

Pathetic state of the nation my arse.
Even when half the world was under Britannia's rule a century ago, this country still had the largely the same social problems, political ineptitude, financial crises, religious intolerance and media driven mouth foaming we are seeing today.
I suggest you take a long holiday in Zimbabwe, Somalia and Afghanistan and then review your comments.

However, the key word there is 'decent'. I seem to remember a lot of those anti poll tax types as actually being drop outs from nice middle class backgrounds. After that they either grew up, washed and cut their hair and got jobs, or they found a new home among the eco-mentalists and animal rights nutters.

You can't compare such countries. And I know, because 2 of those 3 I have been to on several occasions.Even when half the world was under Britannia's rule a century ago, this country still had the largely the same social problems, political ineptitude, financial crises, religious intolerance and media driven mouth foaming we are seeing today.

The fact remains that the dumbing down of the Uk and our political apathy is a problem.
The UK is a country where the people in charge are there because only 22% of those who could vote actually bothered to vote for them. That is apathy. And it is a problem when X factor or big brother is more important to people than politics.
Still, I live in hope that come an election people may be more engaged and get of their arses and do something.. I guess it will depend if celebrity big brother is on TV or not at the time..

Hopefully it will be elections that do that. Riots did nothing to unseat the Conservatives in the 80s did they? The time for riots is when the people vote the buggers out, and they don't go.
[tinfoil hat on]I wonder if the politicisation of the police is all about being a counterbalance to the more conservative (small 'c') armed forces - who would mostly be abroad fighting one of Labour's wars - in the event of that ever happening?[tinfoil hat off]
