Does anybody know what the shopping is like in Terminal 5 before passport control, I normally do 'panic' Christmas shopping in the shops in Terminal 3, but thought I might give T5 a look this year if I need to do any.

I've not flown through yet so wasn't sure if it was worth it of not, and not sure I can face the queues in the 'normal' shopping centres.

I can't remember if there are too many shops landside.
Airside though, things are good. There are alot of outlets there. Pretty much the standard type stuff, but quite a good variety AFAIR.

That's what the website says, but I'm not going on a flight, just looking to avoid the normal Christmas chaos frown

Loads of shops airside, not many landside. Probably some of the best shopping in an airport in the UK. Would like a few more coffee/snack places & some more seating though!

And a very easy way to loose it if caught!

As long as you pay the tax on it then you are ok!

As far as i am aware, staff can buy anything airside except from the duty free shops (ie smokes/booze etc)

You could book a fully flex ticket, do your shopping, cancel the ticket and head back land-side.
