Watchdog muppetry!
Discussion
I think this deserves a new thread...
Rather large lady complaining about being scammed by someone on an Internet dating site. I was roffling a little when they showed the profile picture of a very handsome square-jawed younger white American man planning to move to the UK shortly. She described how they e-mailed each other and then spoke several times on the telephone.
I roffled even more when she described how he said about going to Nigeria to see his sick son in boarding school, and she began sending him money to pay for gifts, etc and a ticket back to England.
However, I fell off my chair when the presenter called the man in question... And he sounded like George Agududwengo from Fonejacker. Properly, 100% Nigerian accent.
Unbelievable. When along the line did she not smell a rat?!? Picture/voice discrepancy?!
My largest roffle was reserved for the moment she went online and found the "Institute of Financial Crimes" or something in Nigeria. And sent them money for a "sting" operation against him.

I was thinking the other day, do people seriously fall for these type of scams still? They've been around for sooo long!
Infact, even falling for them in the first place is plain retarded, but now with the attention they've recieved and how common they are, there is still people stupid enough!!
Shocking!

Same here. A quick google revealed a thread in an "I've been scammed" site here where she gave more details (see post 10), and says "I new staight away when we spoke on the Phone he was black yet he still convinced me he wasn't".Jeez.

Holy cow - that's like a bright light in the eyes - how could you concentrate on the penetrating questions when there' a chance you might get a glimpse?
