The Bright Side of Life
Discussion
A few years ago when myself and my lovely wife walked back down the aisle after the marriage ceremony we had the organist segue from the traditional Wedding March into Monty Python's "Always look on the bright side of life". Sounds great when played on a "ahem" huge organ. I'll also have this played at my funeral when the time comes.
Recently it's been fairly difficult to live up to this philosophy. Firstly we have the situation with my Mother-in-Law being in hospital with what we now know is a stroke. Then yesterday my mobile phone packed up (I realise this is of no importance relatively speaking but is a real buggerance none the less).
Then when I get home last night the wife informs me, as I'm about to settle down for my late dinner, that she has a flat tyre. Great. So it's out in the dark and drizzle to get that changed so that in the morning she can get the car to the garage. Wheel nuts required the strength of Samson to shift them (I managed to bend the wheel brace!) and I think I hurt my back a little (whimper).
But, on the whole, I try to be an optimistic kind of soul so I'm going to try and look at the plus points here.
1. We now know what's wrong with the Mother-in-Law so we don't have any uncertainty any more. Might be a long road back but at least it'll be manageable.
2. I can get a spanking new phone today.
3. Because of my mainly desk-bound existence I tend not to get the chance too often to do manly tasks like changing a wheel. Hopefully I've justified my existence in some way.
4. Really looking forward to Christmas morning when my 2 year old daughter will be overwhelmed by seeing presents under the tree and a full stocking full of gifts at the end of her bed.
All in all it could be a hell of lot worse. So let's have some positive spin on the little things that try to get us down each day. After all, worse things happen at sea you know.

king tyre? Jeeesus!

. She noticed it in the morning but failed to let me know until the night time. I could have had the local village garage sort it out yesterday for her
during daylight if she'd let me know.
