whoops!

A client has just reversed into two of our 8x6 windows whilst turning in our off street parking, great timing before the Christmas break.

Even better, she was away to drive off, thankfully we managed to stop her before she did.

Is it possible to claim such damage off insurance?

Yes, hers.

Get pics with her registration and call the police to get a crime ref number FFS!!

I know its an internet forum to ask questions but some of these posts really surprise me sometimes.

Tried to drive off? She is either

a) A cheeky bint for buggering off without taking responsibility
b) An inept bint if she can't hear half a tonne of glass splintering behind her

I say sue her for mental anguish caused by the loud noises hehe

What a fking mindless idiot, "oh I've just accidentally drien into a shop window as I'm a pleb so am going to make good my escape".

At least you got her. I'd have thought claim on her insurance, also I'd be wanting to take further action for her trying to drive off.

This is entirely a matter for her insurance.

Her registration? What would I need that for?...

a car vs car accident is obvious, you exchange insurance details and we all know the rest, however I've never had to consider a car vs building claim before so I beg your humble forgiveness for the bone question.

Hopefully it will be resolved without involving insurance, far easier that way.

I hope that in addition to posting on PH you have called a glass firm to get a replacement sorted out?

Of course. What do you think insurance is exactly?

Motor insurance covers for the cost of any damage done by the car, whether it's to another car, a lamp post or a shop.

Make sure you get her insurance details anyway just in case she fails to come up with the cash. If she's cagey about giving you the details call the police as she may be uninsured.

If she doesn't play ball I'm sure you can claim off your buildings insurer and they will recover monies from her insurer. Either way she needs to provide you with her insurance details.

I'm expecting another thread asking just this question to appear any minute. Maybe even with a poll if we're very lucky...

D'oh!

<calls glazer>

All sorted now, details exchanged and window patched up, thankfully it is safety glass do it didn't smash into a million pieces.

BTW I'm sat at home, not actually at the shop. That is my disclaimer for posting on here in the middle of it all, not that I am in any way addicted and can't get away from posting every little detail of what is going on around me..boxedin

It's very simple; if she's insured, you will claim off her car insuarance.

If she's not, you'd best get the law involved and not forget to raise the fact that she was after leaving the scene of the accident before you apprehended her.
