How much for a decent suit in the UK?
Discussion
The last suit I bought in the UK was about 400 quid, from a proper shop - not bespoke but a nice off the shelf item and fine tuned to match my athletic physique,
Now I'm on hols in florida at the mo' and I was just is Saks 5th ave, trying on a pretty nice suit that was marked up at $2000, mine for $600 in their sale, now I quite liked it but at 400 quid was it a good deal? ot does the credit crunch effect get me a similar suit in the UK for less? or should I go back to Saks in the morning?

Looking around me here there are some spectacularly badly dressed Brits here, the americans blend in well.
I should have noted that I actually live in the canadian prairies and it is not easy to get any clothes that dont look as if they came from a charity shop!
The suits in question are pretty European in cut I would say

Off the peg stuff should be £400 -£600 for a decent traditional suit. Its worth splashing out on a bespoke suit if you intend of keeping it long term imho.
Thats what I'm thinking, I'm in the UK in a few weeks, perhaps I'll have a good look then - are there any good deals going on currently in blighty, Decent clobber costs a kings ransom in canada!

For £600 you can have a decent MTM too.It just depends - the last suit a I bought was a Ted Baker & I think I paid under £200 for it in the sales. On the same morning I must have tried on 10-15 suits & the variation in quality of manufacture was huge - and didn't really have much to do with the price. I think the worst one was a suit in Lewins with their own label on it which they wanted £450 for(reduced from £600) & that was so badly made I wouldn't have worn it if they paid me. If you shop around you can find a perfectly good suit easily for under £300 - and you can also pay £800 for complete crap.
