Was looking for a clutch bag for the missus, something nice

..and become completly depressed at the ridiculous money being asked.

Firstly - 99.99% are absolutely hideous.

The only one that met my approval was a little lambskin Chanel thing. AED 7,800 - that's GBP 1,400 in today's money!!!

For a tiny handbag?

Please don't get me wrong - I'm more than happy to spend money on certain things - A watch perhaps, car, shoes, nice suit, good holiday, nice frocks and pressies for the wife - but these things all have tangible worth and quality. This handbag was nice but not even worth a fifth of the price.

I think it was actualy feeling pity for the saps that buy them. Even if I had millions in the bank, I'd never buy it - no value whatsoever.

I know the feeling. The Mrs picked out two handbags/clutch bags she liked. One was Gucci, the other YSL. So, went xmas shopping in Mall of Emirates, YSL bag was AED11,000 - I was like WTF. I can get a new zorst, clutch and turbo for the scooby for that! hahahaha, the Gucci was slightly less expensive at AED3,300 - guess which one I bought? hahahahahahahaa

Btw - check this place out - was there a few weekends ago - one of the nicest places I've ever been and only 1.5hrs drive from DXB.

Definately approve - takes a lot for me to relax and it is so serene and tranquille - food was good, get your own butler who sorts everything out for you. You can choose your own wine list for the mini bar - you get two, a normal one and a wine fridge.

Very well done - high quality villas and not ostentatious like the usual crap we get round here. We hardly saw another soul and was very peaceful.

My Mrs is from Hong Kong and can spot a fake from a mile away, so I would not be able to get away with it. Wanting bags and shoes are in their genes!

Oh dear... you really think that's a reliable guide don't you. This is a woman we're talking about man! They have an uncanny ability to change the rules at zero notice and expect you to "know" via some sort of sub-etha communication channel.

That is very true, but my statement still stands, esp if you pick up hints etc a week before Xmas day and you manage to shop in between.

Hahaha - the missus said she was going to get our maid a present - she wasn't best pleased when I suggested a new mop

I'm pretty good at buying the missus clothes - it's not so much the design etc.. but making sure it's the right size and fit that suits her.

Regarding getting a fakey - she's from India and would spot a fake from a hundred miles. Thing is, she likes high quality stuff but not at the sake of paying OTT just for a name brand. I like the fact that she's more subtle than that.
